Dissidents Issue TUV Death Threat
Dissident republicans have issued a chilling death threat to Traditional Unionist Voice leader Jim Allister.
The former European MP (pictured) said he had been told by police of a terrorist plot to kill him. One other TUV member has been warned their life is also at risk. It is believed the Continuity IRA is behind the warnings.
Mr Allister has been a vocal opponent of the Stormont power-sharing Executive, and continues to denounced republican elements throughout Northern Ireland.
Last night he said: "With the recent upsurge in IRA terrorist activity, politicians will not be immune from the threat of terrorism."
Mr Allister said neither he nor his party "will be deterred from standing up against terrorists, either in or out of government".
A police spokesman said they did not discuss the security of individuals.
"However, if we receive information that a person's life is at risk, we will take steps to inform them immediately.
"We never ignore anything which may put an individual's life at risk."
