Picture Perfect
Judging has taken place for the 26th annual photographic competition at Belfast Zoological Gardens. With almost 300 entries this year, competition was fierce and the standard of entries was extremely high. The awards ceremony took place on Saturday 17th October, with winners being given cash prizes, sponsored by HB. Categories included best picture taken by a visitor, best funny caption, best picture taken by someone under 16, best black and white photo and best club photographer. Mark Challis, Zoo Manager said: "The photographic competition is a wonderful way to highlight the magnificence of the animals in the zoo and encourage people to be involved. It requires a lot of patience to photograph animals. It is fantastic to see the interest people take in capturing wildlife on film." The winners and a selection of other entries will be displayed in the Ark Café at the zoo for the next year for all visitors to see, (see example).
