Computer Company Annouces 50 New Jobs
A top computer company is to create 50 new jobs in Co Galway as part of a new expansion project in the region.
HP announced the €11million investment this morning, which will see the establishment of two new IDA-supported research and development projects at its Ballybrit facility.
One of the projects will create a centre of expertise for 'cloud' computing services - the next generation in network development.
The second part of the investment is focused on setting up a research and development group focused on process innovation. Announcing the news Enterprise Minister Mary Coughlan said: "Ireland has a proven ability to satisfy the needs of highly inventive and technologically advanced companies and these projects are an excellent further endorsement of our well established reputation."
The Tánaiste described the news as "a major vote of confidence" in HP's Galway facility and said it was gratifying to see yet another HP investment in Ireland after the company announced its intention to create 500 high-skilled jobs at its facility in Leixlip.
HP Ireland Managing Director Martin Murphy said the investment was "yet another example of the Irish knowledge economy in action".
HP employs over 4,000 people in Leixlip, Dublin, Galway and Belfast.
