Princess Anne 'Backs Equality'
A royal visitor has today honoured a leading government-backed agency that targets equality provision.
The Princess Royal visited the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland (ECNI) at their main offices in Belfast.
The organisation celebrates its 10th Anniversary this year and for the last decade has had responsibility for the oversight of all the anti-discrimination legislation in Northern Ireland covering fair employment, race, disability, sex, sexual orientation and age.
Princess Anne was greeted by Dame Mary Peters, Lord Lieutenant of the County Borough of Belfast and went on to meet Bob Collins, ECNI Chief Commissioner, and Evelyn Collins, Chief Executive, both of whom accompanied HRH during the engagement.
The Princess Royal went on to meet Equality Commissioners and staff along with invited guests from different areas of the Commission's work, including employment, race, legal, disability, age and sexual orientation.
Following words of thanks from Bob Collins, The Princess Royal accepted an invitation from him to cut a 10th Anniversary cake.
Earlier today, The Princess Royal carried out her first engagement of the day when she was guest of honour at a ceremony in Hillsborough Castle.
As Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Logistic Corps (RLC), she presented Operational Campaign Service Medals to officers and soldiers from 152 (Ulster) Transport Regiment, RLC (Volunteers).
Princess Anne was welcomed to Hillsborough Castle by David Lindsay, Lord Lieutenant of Co Down and Major General Malcom Wood - who greeted Her Royal Highness on behalf of the Regiment.
HRH presented 27 Campaign Medals to individuals for service in Afghanistan.
The unit was deployed during 2008 to work along side its regular army counterparts as part of the task force in Afghanistan where it saw active service in some of the most hostile areas of Helmand Province.
HRH also presented Warrants to a number of Senior Non-Commissioned Officers at a separate ceremony and then met soldiers along with their family members and guests.

Man Dies After Bus Fall In Belfast
Detectives are investigating the death of an 80-year-old man who fell from a bus in Belfast. Police have said that they believe the man was travelling on a 2J Translink Metro bus service at around 11:15am on Friday, 08 November, when he suffered a fall as the bus travelled along Royal Avenue, near it's junction with North Street.

Roads Service Ready For Winter Weather
Infrastructure Minister John O'Dowd has confirmed that the Department's winter service team is prepared to tackle the current cold snap. Around 300 staff and 130 gritters are ready to salt main roads, while 12 snow blowers are available for deployment if necessary. To ensure a comprehensive winter service, the Department has allocated £3.
