Pearson consider interest in FT Business division
Pearson, owners of an education and business publishing group that includes the Financial Times, said the group has received "expressions of interest" in specialist financial publishing division FT Business.
The FT Group's business division publishes Financial Advisor, Investors Chronicle, Money Management and The Banker, however the portfolio of the division excludes the Financial Times and Pearson's half share in The Economist.
A spokesperson for Pearson declared the move to entertain bids for the business publishing division was part of an ongoing strategy by the FT Group to concentrate on international rather than domestic UK business and specialist titles.
Pearson shares jumped 2 per cent on the news in morning trading.
Last year Pearson sold FT Energy, a specialist news arm for the energy industry to McGraw-Hill, reined in internet spend following a fall in advertising revenue and announced the sale of its stake in RTL.
