Sean Campbell appointed as new CITB chairman
Sean Campbell has recently been appointed as the chairman of the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) in Northern Ireland.
Currently the Company Secretary and Managing Director of H&P Campbell, Newry - a building and civil engineering contractor – Mr Campbell has been a member of CITB since 1993.
In previous years, he has been active in representing the interests of the construction sector as a past President of the Construction Employers Federation, the Joint Council for the Building and Civil Engineering Industry. Mr Campbell remains an active member of the Down Builders Association.
The construction industry is one of the largest and most important industries in Northern Ireland.
The construction sector employs over 47,000 people throughout the Province and contributes £2 billion to the local economy.

Gold medal success at Skillbuild Finals
Students and staff at the East Down Institute Ballynahinch campus are celebrating their achievement in the UK Skillbuild Finals recently held in Manchester. Jobskills trainee Campbell Kelly scooped a Gold medal in the Carpentry section whilst Gary Graham achieved a Certificate of Merit in the Painting & Decorating section.

The New Sector Skills Council For Construction
Charles Clarke, the Secretary for State for Education, has given the green light to the new sector skills council for the construction industry. Known as ConstructionSkills, the new SSC will comprise CITBGB in partnership with CITBNI (Northern Ireland) and CIC (Construction Industry Council).
