Mayor In Caribbean Welcome
The launch of a new support strategy for the Northern Ireland's growing African and Caribbean communities has been marked today.
The Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Naomi Long, welcomed the Afro-Community Support Organisation of Northern Ireland (ACSONI), which has launched its first three year strategic plan.
Pictured here with Azaria Baker and Andrew Gitari from ACSONI, she said it is designed to increase integration, community development and cohesion, with a primary focus upon furthering engagement with all stakeholders in Northern Ireland.
Speaking at the plan's launch at Parliament Buildings, the Lord Mayor praised the efforts being made on behalf of the African and Caribbean communities across Northern Ireland.
"The changes and increasing diversity in Northern Ireland, and specifically within the Afro-Community, have enriched our lives in many ways," she said, noting that the interaction is "bringing real social, cross-community and cross-cultural, and of course, economic benefits to the province".

Northern Ireland police launch two murder inquiries
Northern Ireland police have launched two separate investigations into the murder of two men in Counties Londonderry and Tyrone at the weekend. The two men, both in their fifties, were found dead in their homes on Saturday 3 October. The police said they believed the man murdered in Coleraine in County Londonderry was beaten to death.
