Belfast's City Hall Taken To Book
A new book is celebrating Belfast's City Hall – seen by many as the capital's 'architectural centrepiece'.
'Belfast City Hall – An Architectural History', by Dr Paul Larmour, describes the history and architecture of the City Hall, from its inception in 1896 to its completion in 1906.
Dr Larmour is one of Ireland's leading architectural historians.
The Ulster Architectural Heritage Society, in partnership with Belfast City Council, has produced the publication, which is published by Colourprint Books.
Speaking ahead of the publication's launch this evening, the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Naomi Long, who is a civil engineering graduate, commented: "This fascinating publication leaves the reader in no doubt as to why City Hall is not only one of the most memorable buildings in Ireland, but also one of the best of its era in the whole of the British Isles."
From the story of the design competition, to the sources of inspiration for architect Alfred Brumwell Thomas' design for the building and the development of the grounds and its various monuments, the book is said to be packed with interesting facts and features more than 200 illustrations and archive photographs.

The Chairman of Belfast City Council’s Good Relations Steering Panel has challenged claims that the Council is not supporting St Patrick’s Day in Belfast. It follows a protest outside Belfast City Hall last week by the St Patrick's Carnival Committee who claim the Council isn't funding this year's event at the City Hall.

The first event will commence at 11am from Writer's Square and proceed along Donegall Street, Royal Avenue, Donegall Place, and Donegall Square North, concluding at Belfast City Hall.

Belfast residents are invited to enhance their safety knowledge at the free Spring Safety event, returning to Belfast City Hall on Friday, 07 March. Organised by the Belfast Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP), the annual roadshow provides one-on-one advice on various home and online safety issues.

Orangefest Celebrations Set For July 12 At Belfast City Hall
A whole host of family fun activities is planned to take place at Belfast's City Hall in conjunction with the annual parades to commemorate The Twelfth. Created to complement the July 12 parades, Orangefest 2024 will take place from 10am-4pm at both Belfast City Hall and surrounding areas in Royal Avenue.
