Minister backs 'crucial' construction training series

The Minister for State and Industry, Brian Wilson, has described a new serious of construction training workshops as playing 'a crucial role' in delivering improvements throughout the industry.

The training series – entitled Learning by Doing – has been jointly organised by the Construction Best Practice Programme and the CITB, and is one of a series of initiatives developed in 2002 by the CITB under a programme of special measures to promote and enhance supervisory management.

Senior decision makers in construction firms throughout the sector in Northern Ireland will be able to attend the training workshops, where they will be equipped with vital techniques for improving their business operations.

Each training workshop will cover various key issues challenging the industry, ranging from team leadership, people and internet culture, partnering and managing external relationships, business process improvement and performance management.

Underlining the government's commitment to promoting such best practice across the industry, Brian Wilson welcomed the initiative, stating: "Construction companies and their clients need to be equipped with the vital tools to make real changes. These training workshops play a crucial role in delivering these tools, promoting best practice and business improvement." (CL)
