Jobs Lost From Donegal To North
Up to 70 jobs are to go at a meat processing plant in Donegal, a trade union has warned.
SIPTU said it has been told by management at Donegal Meat Processors in Carrigans that the factory's boning hall is to close.
Branch Organiser Martin O'Rourke told the BBC today that he was told it was cheaper for the company to operate in Northern Ireland.
"They're telling us the costs in the Republic outweigh the costs in the North," he said.
"This is because Sterling has depleted against the Euro, and it's more economically viable for them to carry out that operation north of the border."

A junior minister is being told to "apologise or quit" after entering a row with the civil service. Junior Minister of State, John McGuinness, angered civil service workers and union member by saying there was now a culture in the civil service that "destroys ambition" and that workers are over-protected by unions.
