Adam's Backs Devolution
Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams has praised the recent deal on the transfer of powers from Westminster to Belfast as a "hugely important... staging post". However, much of Mr Adams' speech in Dublin, which was live on Irish Republic TV, was targeted at a southern Irish audience ahead of elections there. Leader Sir Reg Empey said members would make a final decision on Monday night, a day before a vital cross-party vote in the Assembly is due to take place.
Most Wanted
The Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Shaun Woodward has said there was no secret deal over 'on the run' criminals being sought by the police and has denied that pardons have been granted to a quarter of wanted members of the IRA. Tyrone republican Gerry McGeough told the Sunday Tribune 47 of the 216 fugitives were told they could return although Mr McGeough is to stand trial for IRA membership and attempted murder of a UDR man in 1981, but said his lawyers had uncovered the information.
