Attack 'Not Racist'

PSNI officers investigating a petrol bomb attack on a Ballymena house used by an Eastern European woman have ruled out a racist motive. At least two devices were thrown through a downstairs window of the Galgorm Road property on Sunday night and a number of other devices also hit the outside of the building. The woman, who is understood to be Polish, was alone in the house at the time of the attack and although it has been determined that it was not racist, police still have to establish exactly what was behind the incident.

Older Folks Excel In Caring

Retired people are 'doing it for themselves' as Belfast's 'Good Neighbours' honours will show during a civic reception in the City Hall next Tuesday. Belfast Lord Mayor, Councillor Naomi Long, said: "We asked for nominations for those who lent a helping hand to older people in the community and what we got back shows older people are helping each other on a daily basis," she said. Paying tribute to all the nominees, and those who had entered them, the Lord Mayor added: "The Good Neighbour award reflects the generosity of the people of Belfast, their interest in the world around them and the solidarity of the communities within the city. I am delighted to invite such caring people to my parlour."

Thugs Hang Dog

Police in Omagh are investigating after a dog was found hanging from a washing line with details just released about the incident in which the French Mastif dog was found dead in the rear garden of a house at Meelmore Drive on Thursday night of last week. Police believe it had to be lifted up to be tied by a rope onto the line. A spokesman said: "This was a particularly cruel and vicious crime and we would like to hear from anyone who can help us identify and prosecute the culprit."
