Irish Sea Rowers Support Troops
The Irish Sea is proving to be a challenging crossing for two ex-soldiers to raise funds for comrades serving on the 'front line'.
The two charity fundraisers are former Royal Dragoon Guards and have set off on a marathon rowing challenge from Ardglass in Co Down, Northern Ireland to Fleetwood near Blackpool to raise money for the Royal Dragoon Guards who are currently serving in Afghanistan and the Help the Heroes charity.
Dave McCartney, 45, who comes originally from west Belfast and Sean Uttley ,45, from Carlisle in the Borders, set off this morning at 10am on a 60-hour row in an ocean-going rowing boat.
They hope to raise £30,000 for their chosen charities. They were waved off from the fishing village by family and friends, including former Royal Dragoon's Tony Farrell and Tom Greene, who travelled from Dublin to see them off.
Donations are possible through Lloyds TSB, Glosip, Derbyshire, with cheques made payable to - 'Two skins in a boat'. Dave is the rower with the sunglasses, shown here with Sean.
