Victim's Ex Faces Murder Charges
A 55-year-old man, Joseph Alfred Haveron, 55, from Farm Lodge Grove in Greenisland, was today charged with murdering his former wife.
An application for bail at Belfast Magistrates Court on Tuesday on behalf of the former police officer was turned down when the court heard that the suspect took an overdose after the murder investigation began.
The victim, a 53-year-old nurse was found in her Huntingdale home almost a month ago. She had been strangled.
The same man was originally arrested and then released in the days following Mrs Haveron's murder.
The BBC has reported that a third party is said to have been threatened and that this was also given a reason for bail being refused.
