Balmoral Show Best Dressed
Showing its other side beyond agriculture, the RUAS annual show's GOSH! Cosmetics Best Dressed Competition has been won by the stylish Hannah Lilburn. Hannah, who normally shows livestock at the recent Balmoral Show decided to give up her wellies for a pair of killer heels and for her efforts she has won an array of amazing prizes including a week at the Italian seaside Lido di Jesolo. The runner up prize this year went to Danielle Hammond from Ballynahinch. Danielle takes home a GOSH Cosmetics Hamper and dinner for two at Deane's at Queen's.
Stabbing Condemned
Cllr Tim Attwood has condemned the serious stabbing of a 20-year-old man in the Shaw's Road area on Saturday. The SDLP man said: "This is a very serious stabbing incident which has left a young man with four stab wounds. Our prayers and sympathy are with him and his family at this time. It is essential that anybody with information about this brutal attack passes it on to the PSNI. The person or persons behind this attack need to be caught and brought to justice. Knife crime is a scourge on our community and anybody involved in knife crime should face a heavy prison sentence."
Strabane Shooting
A 25-year-old man has been shot and beaten in a house in Strabane. At about midnight the man was in bed with his partner when the front door of their Glebe Gardens home was forced and two masked men entered their bedroom. The victim was beaten with a wooden bat as he lay in bed. One of the men also fired a number of shots from a handgun hitting the man in an arm and a leg. The man is understood to have received two gunshot wounds, one to his upper left leg and one to his left arm, as well as a suspected broken right arm. Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
Housing Bid For East Belfast Wasteground
A novel method of addressing a housing shortage in east Belfast has been suggested. Robin Newton the local DUP MLA and Stormont Junior Minister has called on Belfast City Council to urgently take action on the development for two vacant sites in East Belfast. Gorse Blazes
NI Fire crews were called to almost 100 gorse fires on Saturday including a major blaze at Camlough near Newry needed 70 firefighters to deal with it and one in Sixmilecross near Omagh tied up 30 firefighters.
Sex Abuse Charges
Two men have been charged with 'historical' sexual abuse offences in Co Down. The alleged offences include rape, indecent assault and cruelty, date back a number of years. Two men and a woman being questioned as part of the same inquiry have been released on bail pending reports and another woman is still being questioned.
NIHE Board Members Revealed
Additions to the Northern Ireland Housing Executive board have been announced. The ex-NI Social Development Minister Margaret Ritchie revealed the appointments after a public appointments competition, and said that three board members have been appointed for a five year term from 1 June. The new members are Edna Dunbar MBE, Angela Coffey and Kenneth Millar. The members will receive £6,740 per annum for their services.

Co Fermanagh man suffers broken nose in robbery
A Co Fermanagh man has suffered a broken nose after being assaulted by two men at his home in Enniskillen. The 65-year-old man was confronted by two men who forced their way into his home on Sunday. They then assaulted him before robbing his home. It is understood that a sum of money was taken during the robbery.

Man Arrested In Connection With Dromara Assault
A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a report of an assault at licenced premises at the Rathfriland Road area of Dromara. Detective Inspector Bell said: "Shortly before 10:10pm on Friday 15th December, it was reported that an altercation occurred at a bar in the area following three men refused entry to the premises.

Man Dies In Portadown Road Crash
An 18-year-old man has died following a collision in Portadown. The crash happened on the Dungannon Road between midnight and 12.30am on Wednesday, 08 November. The road has been re-opened. Elsewhere, a man, aged in his 30's, has died in a road collision in Co Antrim.
