Building Firm Commended For Innovation
A Co Tyrone concrete and brick manufacturer has been commended for its "innovative" approach it takes in managing talent within the company.
Presented with two 'highly commended' awards at the recent Irish News Workplace & Employment Awards in Belfast recently, Acheson & Glover, along with other high profile organisations, was congratulated by NI Employment & Learning Minister Sir Reg Empey for its success in placing a firm emphasis on individuals and its positive contribution to the NI workplace.
Acheson & Glover won its first accolade in the Managing Talent Award, (medium/large organisation category) given to organisations demonstrating an innovative and effective approach to managing fresh and experienced talent.
The company was also highly commended in the Innovative Employer of the Year category (medium/large organisation) aimed at organisations able to demonstrate innovative approaches to meeting the needs of tomorrow’s workforce within their organisation, at a time when the current economic climate, despite emerging from recession, continues to bring considerable new challenges.
"We were delighted to get recognition in these awards," said Acheson & Glover’s HR Manager Ashleigh Acton.

Man Arrested Over Bertie Acheson Murder
Detectives from Serious Crime Branch have arrested a 39-year-old man in connection with the murder of Coleraine pensioner Bertie Acheson. The man was arrested in the greater Belfast area this morning. He has been taken to Antrim police station for questioning. Police are also searching a property in Antrim.

Over 700 Groups To Benefit From Volunteering Small Grants Programme
More than 700 voluntary groups are to share funding of £600,000 under the 2016/17 Volunteering Small Grants Programme, Communities Minister Paul Givan has announced. The Volunteering Small Grants Programme provides grants of between £200 and £1,200 to help organisations throughout Northern Ireland recruit and support volunteers.

£600k Unlocked For Volunteering Groups
£600,000 has been unlocked for volunteering groups across Northern Ireland. The Department for Social Development has launched the 2014-2015 Small Grants programme for local volunteering groups.
