Minister congratulates firm on training commitment

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Bríd Rodgers has congratulated Mourne Country Meats on their commitment to training

The Minister distributed Supervisory Management Certificates to eight members of staff at Mourne Country Meats at a ceremony held on December 5 at the firm’s premises in Greenbank Industrial Estate, Newry.

Mrs Rodgers said: "I was delighted to have this opportunity to congratulate the supervisors of Mourne Country Meats in attaining the first stage in their formal development as managers. Training of staff by companies is essential if they are to meet the challenges of their customers in supplying them with good value, quality, safe and wholesome produce on a consistent basis. I believe that training is one of the key aspects to underpin the future of the Northern Ireland food industry."

Mourne Country Meats Limited is a subsidiary of L & B Powell which is owned by the Powell Family.

The company is one of Northern Ireland's largest producers of cooked ham and they continue to successfully market pre-packed ham, bacon and associated products under the Mourne Country brand. (CD)
