Ryanair Pulls Out Of Belfast City Airport
Budget airline Ryanair has announced that it will stop services from George Best Belfast City Airport from October 31.
The announcement was made by Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary at a press conference at the Europa Hotel in Belfast.
Mr O'Leary told reporters that the decision followed the confirmation that a public inquiry into a planned runway extension would be further delayed.
Passengers with flights booked with the airline for after this date are being advised to check with Ryanair.
Ryanair have been operating from the City airport since 2007, but it is the airline's smallest base with only five domestic routes - Bristol, the East Midlands, Glasgow, Liverpool and London - served from the airport.

bmi to concentrate services at Belfast City
bmi has announced that it is to discontinue its Heathrow service from Belfast International Airport (BIA) and concentrate resources in Belfast City Airport. However, bmi will maintain a presence at BAI as bmibaby will be including Belfast International as a destination to be served from a new UK base to be announced shortly.

City Airport Extension Inquiry Sought
The Green Party are pushing for MLAs at Stormont to vote in favour of a public inquiry into controversial proposals to extend the runway at the George Best Belfast City Airport. The politicians are to debate the issue on Tuesday when the debate reaches the Assembly floor in a move sponsored by the Green Party.

There's bad news for an east Belfast residents' group that is fighting the proposed runway extension at George Best Belfast City Airport. Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary has said that he is "fairly satisfied" the Northern Ireland Planning Service will approve the proposal for a longer runway at the facility.
