NI employees cite private life more important than work
A new survey by Sodexho, the world’s largest catering and support services provider, has revealed that employee’s in Northern Ireland have totally different needs and attitudes to their counterparts of 40 years ago.
Fifty-five per cent of those surveyed also cited their private lives as more important than their work.
Another key finding in the research revealed that in 1960 the key consideration for the vast majority of Northern Ireland workers (82.9 per cent) was meeting the needs and expectations of their employees. However, this has dropped to only 39.2 per cent as 60.8 per cent of workers, compared to 17.1 per cent in 1960, are more interested in having their own desires catered for in the workplace.
Northern Ireland employees also prioritised their own needs over the demands of their company. These findings contrast with those of the United States workforce whose attitudes are much more respectful of their employer needs compared to their own needs.
Sodexho, formerly known as Gardner Merchant, currently employ over 1,300 people in Northern Ireland, at 120 locations in the business, education and healthcare sectors. (MB)

People in the Northern Ireland are more concerned about money than anywhere else in the country according to Samaritans' annual worries survey 2012. An exclusive YouGov poll for Samaritans shows that 66 per cent of Northern Irish people placed worries about money in their top five, and 17 per cent above the UK average.
