Wexford M-Way Plan Unchanged
There will not be no change in the planned building of a motorway for Wexford - but the much needed construction contract is likely to be delayed because of national cutbacks.
The National Roads' Authority (NRA) has ruled out the possibility of a truncated M-way for users and plans to continue with the proposed route from Oylegate to Rosslare Europort.
However, it has also emerged that the Dáil Government will delay the construction of all roads in the county - much to the disappointment of contractors.
To date over 2,000 Wexford residents have made submissions regarding the controversial proposed motorway, which will complete the national road network from the North to Rosslare, when finished.
The Wexford Echo newspaper has reported that Don Curtin of the Road Liaison Office of the NRA said the organisation's staff is reviewing all of the submissions.
Mr. Curtin said the NRA expects a preferred route to be identified by the end of March.
"It will then hold a public exhibition of the planned route for all to see. A route selection report will then be drawn up with detailed information of the particular route.
"The route will be 300 metres wide and the width of the road will be 50-60 metres," he said.

A multi-million pound road development along the border has been boosted today with news of a decision on the route to be taken. NI Transport Minister Conor Murphy and his southern counterpart Minister Noel Dempsey announced the preferred route for the A5 Western Transport Corridor.

Ballycastle-Campbeltown ferry route re-opened to tender
The Ballycastle-Campbeltown ferry service, which closed down in July 2000, will be opened again to tenders from private companies. In a joint initiative by the Scottish Office, Scottish Executive and the Northern Ireland Executive, the service will now be out to tenders for a contract to run the service for up to five years.
