Magdalene Telecoms Provider Opens HQ
An independent telecoms service provider that supplies solutions and services for private and public operators including fixed and mobile operators, utility companies and telecom equipment vendors has opened its Belfast offices.
NI Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster officially opened the new Harbour Estate offices of telecoms company Magdalene Ltd.
Last year Magdalene announced, with support from Invest Northern Ireland, that it was to set up a Telecoms Services and Engineering Support Centre and a Network Operations Centre in Belfast that would promote 52 jobs by 2011.
Operating temporarily from the Gasworks the company currently employs 13. The move to its new high-tech premises will allow it to proceed towards its full planned staff complement for both centres.
Speaking at the opening ceremony the Minister said: "Last year we welcomed the news that Magdalene had decided to set up two support centres in Northern Ireland.
"Magdalene represents the kind of quality ICT company that Invest NI is keen to attract and it joins the growing list of international ICT companies that recognise the benefits of locating in Northern Ireland and have chosen to invest here. When all jobs are in place, they will contribute salaries of around £1.4million annually to the Northern Ireland economy."
