Queen Adds Fizz To Coca-Cola

Day two of a high profile royal visit to Northern Ireland saw The Queen adding fizz to a recently opened soft drinks plant in Co Antrim.

This morning, Her Majesty and Prince Philip were at the Coca-Cola plant in Lambeg, near Lisburn to see at first hand the new £93m Coca-Cola HBC Northern Ireland manufacturing plant that initially opened in August.

Part of the Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company, it is part of the world's largest producer of Coca-Cola branded beverages, and is an expansion secured after Invest Northern Ireland announced that it funded the project with an offer of support totalling £6.75m.

Her Majesty (pictured here by Brian McCalden) was undertaking the visit this morning after a busy day yesterday, with a visit to UTV's Havelock House marking its 50th anniversary and the official 'switch over' to a HD broadcasting channel.

Her Majesty then travelled to Hillsborough Castle and met charitable representatives from the local branch of children's charity Action for Children, and was at a dinner for 50 of NI's top business leaders and met the NIO Secretary of State, Owen Patterson and the Stormont First Minister, Peter Robinson.

Earlier this morning, at Hillsborough, Her Majesty also met a party of Army Cadets to celebrate and officially mark their 150th anniversary.

She will leave NI early this afternoon, but not before another, as yet unheralded official engagement is undertaken, before returning to London.
