UUP Goes Pink

UUP Leader Tom Elliott commended Jo-Anne and Carol on their drive to raise awareness: "The Ulster Unionist Party is committed to a better future for the people of Northern Ireland, and anything we can do to raise awareness of this devastating illness is time and money well spent." Women's Development Officer Sandra Overend emphasised the importance of donations to funding "vital research into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure of breast cancer".
Hot Pursuit
There was lunchtime traffic disruption today after several people were arrested following a police car pursuit in west Belfast. It is understood a car was being pursued by police when it was in collision with a taxi on the Andersonstown Road. At present, there are few details and it is not known if there are any injuries, but the PSNI said motorists could face delays in the area as a result of the incident.
Bike Crash Tragedy
The scene of a fatal accident was yesterday closed off while the crash scene was examined after a 16-year-old motorcyclist died following a collision outside Randalstown, Co Antrim. Shane Louis-McGill, from the Randalstown area, died in the accident, which happened on the Castle Road at the junction with the Milltown Road after 4.30pm on Wednesday. Police investigating the circumstances of the crash say they are keen to speak to the occupants of a red-coloured van with a roof rack travelling on the Castle Road at the time of the accident.
IRA Gunman Found Dead
An IRA bomber and gunman who wrote a controversial book on his activities during the Troubles, has been found dead in a car. Gerry 'Whitey' Bradley claimed he was ostracised by friends after the publication of 'Insider,' co-authored by lecturer and writer Brian Feeney. Mr Bradley's body was discovered in the vehicle parked at a marina near Carrickfergus Castle on Wednesday.
Bookies Robbed
A west Belfast bookmakers has been hit in an armed robbery. The Sean Graham bookmakers shop on the Grosvenor Road was attacked last Friday night by a masked male with a firearm who entered the premises and approached two members of staff at around 8.20pm. The man pointed the firearm at the staff members and demanded money before making off with a sum of cash. It is believed he made off up Grosvenor Road towards the Falls on foot. He is described as being 5ft 5in tall, of medium build and wearing blue jeans, a black zipped-up jacket, balaclava and gloves and he spoke with a local accent.

A number of roads remain closed across Northern Ireland following the damage caused by Storm Ali. The following roads are still closed, however the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) is working to clear the obstructions along with its multiagency partners.

Woman Killed In Co Armagh Road Collision
A woman in her 30s has been killed in a road crash in Portadown, Co Armagh. The woman was hit by a car as she was walking on the side of the Moy Road at around 9.45pm on Tuesday. The road was closed for a short time but it has been reopened. Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
