Addressing Santa!

Santa has asked Royal Mail to remind children to start getting their Christmas letters written and ready for posting. Santa's mailbag is already full of festive wish-lists from around the globe and he and his elves are extremely busy writing replies and preparing presents in time for Christmas, said Royal Mail. It already provides a very special delivery service to and from Santa's Grotto each year and is advising children that, in order to receive a personal reply from Santa before Christmas Eve, they need to have their letters written, stamped and posted by Saturday, 11 December and that they mustn't forget to include a return address. Letters should be addressed to: Santa, Santa's Grotto, REINDEERLAND SAN TA1

Formula 1 Boss For Craigavon

Belfast-born entrepreneur and Formula 1 expert Mark Gallagher will be the keynote speaker at a business breakfast tomorrow (Thursday) as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week. Mark will be in Craigavon to share his F1 stories and experiences, and participate in a debate with local business people surrounding the benefits of nurturing and maintaining entrepreneurial spirit within established businesses. Famously described by TV broadcaster Murray Walker as 'head of making things happen', Mark Gallagher has 20 years' experience in the business of Formula 1, but he is best known for his links with Jordan Grand Prix, having spent a decade with the team in the role of marketing director and is principally known as Marketing Director at Jordan Grand Prix, but he later headed sponsorship for Jaguar/Red Bull Racing before establishing his own sports management company. He now provides strategic advice to companies and drivers involved at the highest level of the sport, and frequently appears as a Grand Prix commentator on BBC, Sky News and CNN. At this event, he will engage in open discussion with local businesses and organisations about responding to change, taking risks and implementing new ways of doing things. The event takes place at the Craigavon Civic and Conference Centre, beginning at 8.00am. Places are free of charge, but pre-registration is essential (contact Nicola Finlay on 028 9043 4320).

Festive Cheer Aids SSAFA

The spirit of Christmas will be enlisted this weekend to help raise funds for military families. The Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association - Forces Help (SSAFA Forces Help), the national charity which helps serving and ex-service men and women and their families in need is to benefit from a Christmas Fair which will again mark the start of the festive season in the village of Hillsborough. Taking place from 10am - 4pm on Saturday 20 November in the Hillsborough Village Centre it offers traditional 'fun of the fair' plus home-made food stuff to eat on the spot or take home to enjoy plus some creative crafts designed to add a touch of originality to gift giving this year. There will also be the high tech prizes on offer in the fund raising raffle: an iPad, LCD TV and an X-Box. Admission to the Christmas Fair is free but organisers are determined that proceeds from sales and activities will mean a record-breaking donation.

'Murph' Campaign For London

The Sinn Fein MP, Pat Doherty will accompany the families of the victims of the so-called Ballymurphy Massacre to Westminster on Wednesday to lobby a wide range of political parties. The West Tyrone MP said: "2011 will mark the 40th anniversary since the events of August 1971 when, in the two days after the introduction of internment, 11 people, including a mother of eight children and a local Catholic priest, were killed by the British Parachute Regiment. The families campaign for an independent, international investigation into the events surrounding the deaths will now take them to London to meet with a wide range of political parties to outline their case and the innocence of their loved ones," he said.

On Street Boozers Fined

Three men have been fined for drinking alcohol in a public place. James Rooney, with an address at Morning Star Hostel on Divis Street, was fined £40 each for three separate on-street drinking offences. He was detected drinking alcohol at Castle Street in the city centre on July 27, August 10 and again on August 13 and ordered to pay a total fine of £120 and court costs of £72. Eric Smith, from Clarendon Avenue in east Belfast, was fined £50 and ordered to pay costs of £66 after he was detected drinking alcohol at Lower Crescent on August 25 and Conor Lowe, from Velsheda Park in north Belfast, was fined £50 and ordered to pay costs of £66 after he was detected drinking alcohol at City Hall on June 5. The prosecutions were all brought by Belfast City Council.

Belfast boxer Carl Frampton has been defeated by Léo Santa Cruz in Las Vegas. The man from Tiger's Bay applauded Santa Cruz as he raised his hand as the winner. Following the fight, Frampton tweeted: "@leosantacruz2 a great fighter & even better man. We have to do it again. Congratulations champ.

Belfast Boxer Carl Frampton Confirms Rematch With Leo Santa Cruz
Belfast boxer Carl Frampton has confirmed a rematch with Mexican Leo Santa Cruz. The Featherweight World Champion from Tigers Bay took to Twitter to make the announcement. He wrote: "Done deal! The rematch vs @leosantacruz2 is on!!! More news to come soon #AndStill".

UCF's Mid-Summer Santa Fun Run Launched
Spring weather in NI may be more autumnal than spring-like at present, but a local charity is taking things a step (or two) further by launching the Ulster Cancer Foundation's (UCF) Summer Santa Fun Run.
