Hundreds Mass At Newcastle West Service
Some 500 people gathered at a church in Co Limerick's Newcastle West last night marking the horrific mass murder that led to the death of two women and two young children on Monday.
At the Church of the Immaculate Conception, four candles were lit for each of Monday's victims of the brutal stabbing incident.
Mourners also lit another set of candles for the tragic Butler family in Cork, whose father is said to have killed himself after strangling his two young daughters.
Last night, officers in Limerick were continuing to question a 31-year-old suspect in Henry Street Garda Station about the murders after he was released from hospital where he was treated for a hand injury.
The family of the young mother, Sarah Hines, 25, her baby Amy of five months, toddler son Reece 3, and close friend Alicia Brough, 20, are waiting for relations from England to travel over for the three funerals.
Gardaí investigating the deaths have renewed their appeal for information. Anyone who was in the Hazlegrove Estate on 15 or 16 November is asked to contact gardaí.
Gardaí can be contacted at Newcastle West Garda Station on 069-20650 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666111.
The young family's funeral is not expected to take place until next week.
