IFA Website Scores A Winner

NI soccer has really scored this week with news that the Irish Football Association (IFA) has won a prestigious award for work on the association's website.

At the 2010 eircom Spider Awards in Dublin, the site, www.irishfa.com was named 'Best Sports Website'.

The Spider Awards are billed as Ireland's premier technology and digital media awards, honouring Irish individuals, businesses and community organisations for their outstanding achievements online throughout 2010.

In July, the IFA launched its new and improved website, which was designed by Belfast-based company Tibus and went through a major facelift following feedback from fans and a number of consultancy reports which analysed internet presence.

The new site delivers much more in terms of video content and integration with various online social networking sites, yet it still retains content on the main elements of our game namely international, domestic and grassroots football.

In addition, the online shop has gone through a major change employing the latest in e-Commerce functionality, which enhances the user experience.

Geoff Wilson, Head of Marketing and Communications at the IFA (pictured with Andrew Maybin and Tibus' Rick McKee) said: "To win this award is a fantastic achievement for the Association and I would like to pay tribute to all those who worked on this project - from the marketing team at the Irish FA to our partners, Tibus.

"This award demonstrates the level of professionalism at the IFA," he said.

Rick McKee, Managing Director of Tibus added: "We were delighted to pick up the award on the night on behalf of the IFA.

"It's testament to all the hard work from both teams over many months, and the true spirit of partnership that we’ve enjoyed with each other.

"The judges' comments on the site are very encouraging, and show that all the hard work has borne fruit in meeting the needs of Northern Ireland football fans," he concluded.

UEFA has today announced that Irish Football Association President, Jim Boyce, has been re-elected as Chairman of the UEFA Youth and Amateur Committee for a further term of three years.

IFA opts for Maze stadium plan
At an Executive Committee meeting, the IFA have backed the development of the proposed new multi-purpose stadium at the Maze site. Voting for the proposal, the soccer body said that they were prepared to "progress the matter with Government" on the basis that two other sports also found the stadium proposal attractive.

FIFA Begin Disciplinary Proceedings Against IFA
FIFA has launched disciplinary proceedings against the Irish Footballl Association (IFA) after fans displayed a poppy mosaic during an international game with Azerbaijan. Players wore black armbands during the game and the English and Scottish Football Associations are also under investigation after wearing armbands featuring a poppy at Wembley.

Work Underway For Free Hospital Parking In Northern Ireland
Work has begun at several hospital sites across Northern Ireland as part of the preparations for the introduction of free car parking in May 2026. Health and Social Care Trusts have been actively preparing for the implementation of a new traffic management system since the Hospital Parking Charges Act was passed in 2022.
