West Belfast Death 'Was Murder'
A weekend tragedy is now being investigated by the PSNI as a murder. The inquiry has been launched following the news that 55-year-old Seamus Holland was found badly injured in west Belfast on Sunday.
The victim was lying on the floor of his home in Upton Court and had sustained injuries to the head and face. He was taken to hospital by ambulance, but died at about 1.30pm on Sunday.
Today, a senior investigating officer said police were working on a "definite line of inquiry" and has been appealing for information that could help piece together Seamus' last movements.
Police are also keen to speak to two young men who were seen in the area shortly after the assault took place. Detectives believe the men may have information vital to the investigation.
A Sinn Fein MLA for West Belfast, Paul Maskey, has also called for anyone with any information on the death of Seamus Holland at the weekend to bring that information forward.
"Our thoughts are with Mr Hollands family at this time. We have met with some of the family members and they are shocked and devastated.
"It is important that anyone with information, no matter how small or insignificant they think it is, should bring it forwar," he said.
"This is a tragic incident but it essential that those responsible are apprehended and taken off our streets."
The SDLP West Belfast MLA Alex Attwood has also appealed to members of the public to assist the PSNI investigation into the suspicious death of a man on Sunday.
"This area has suffered too many deaths, too many killings and is not getting the lawful conditions that it needs and that people want.
"There is only one way to put a stop to killings and suspicious deaths and that is for everyone to help the police investigate and every crime to the full so that future crimes can be prevented."

West Belfast Death 'Suspicious'
The PSNI is currently investigating the death of a man at a flat in west Belfast on Saturday. It is thought that the death of the 31-year-old may have been "suspicious". Police said they wanted to speak to anyone who was in the St Mary's Gardens area between 01:00 and mid-afternoon on Saturday 13 September and noticed any suspicious activity.

Appeal Launched Over Death Drivers In West Belfast
Police have launched an appeal for information after a "death driver" was seen driving erratically in west Belfast on Friday, 20 October, at around 3am. The PSNI received reports that a vehicle was performing dangerous manoeuvres in the Falls Road area. The vehicle made off at high speed and was later recovered in the Ross Court area.
