Progress Reported On Moyle Infrastructure
Stormont Transport Minister Conor Murphy has welcomed Roads Service's progress on investment totalling £1.95million in the Moyle area this year.
The Minister said: "Roads Service is committed to ensuring that it can make best use of our resources and continue to deliver quality public services."
The Minister also noted the realignment and footway provision scheme that has been recently completed on Kiln's Road, Ballycastle.
The Sinn Fein MLA, (pictured) said: "The scheme has improved the horizontal alignment of the 'S' bend on Kiln's Road and provides a footway from the existing provision just east of Bunscoil an Chaistil primary school to Broombeg and Altananam Park. The scheme was provided in partnership with the Department of Education who provided 50% funding towards the cost of the scheme.
"In addition, over 4.1km of resurfacing has been completed so far in the District this year. Resurfacing schemes have been completed at Drones Road, Armoy; Whitepark Road, Ballycastle; Ballyemon Road, Cushendall; Straid Road, Bushmills; and Glenshesk Road, Armoy."
Principal Engineer, Jim Campbell said: "A wide range of local schemes have been successfully planned and delivered in the Moyle District in the past 12 months. The ever tightening public expenditure environment in this current year is challenging. Despite this, Roads Service remains committed to developing a programme of high priority road improvement and maintenance schemes for the District; so that these can be delivered as resources permit."
