High-Tech Jobs For Galway
A US telecommunications company has announced the creation of 100 jobs in Galway.
The IDA-supported venture represents an €8m investment by the Texas-based company, Genband, a leading developer of Internet protocol (IP) infrastructure and service solutions.
The company plans to establish its International Headquarters and Business Services Centre in Galway.
The 100 jobs will be created over the next three years with the first of those coming before Christmas with the Galway facility offering employment in software development, customer support, finance and administration.
Speaking yesterday in Galway, Minister Éamon Ó Cuív said the decision by is to "recognise our region's reputation as a leading technology hub".
"The establishment of this operation is a very positive boost for the West and will complement the existing base of telecommunications companies here. As a small open economy, Ireland is pro-business and proud to be to the forefront of the minds of global business leaders as they make critical investment decisions," he said.

Contech Medical expansion to create 80 new jobs
A leading medical device manufacturing and packaging company has announced it is to create 80 new jobs in Galway. Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Mary Harney said the decision by Contech Medical Ltd to expand in the area was "an acknowledgement of the Galway facility" by the parent company.
