Mental Health Care Boosted
The provision of mental heath care in Dublin is to get a major fillip with the construction of a new mental health centre and care home in Whitehall, Dublin.
The new health facility at Highfield Hospital will also create as many as 300 jobs in the building phase.
The project will cost €37m to complete and will provide 100 mental health care beds and 90 nursing home beds.
It is being built by the Highfield Hospital Group beside its existing hospital in the area with construction underway immediately and the project is expected to be completed within 18 months.
The Health Minister Mary Harney said the hospital would be purpose-built to meet the future needs of older people and it will have a real impact on the lives of residents.
