Maxol Direct sponsor Schools Counselling service
Maxol Direct have announced they are to sponsor the new Schools Counselling and Support service by the NSPCC.
The company will sponsor a range of leaflets for the counselling service that will target parents and carers, professionals, pupils at primary and secondary schools and pupils with special needs.
Tony Sheridan, Marketing Manager for Maxol Direct, said his company were delighted to have had the opportunity to support the service for children and young people in the province.
The counselling service was launched as part of the NSPCC FULL STOP campaign education programme to create safe, listening and responsive schools for children and young people in Northern Ireland.
NSPCC Schools counsellors operate in 14 schools in the North Down, Omagh and Enniskillen areas, where the service has been successfully piloted since September 2000 in close association with the South Eastern and Western Education and Library Boards. (MB)

Government called on to fund school counselling
The NSPCC has called on the Government to provide sufficient funding for the adequate counselling of school children in Northern Ireland. The children's charity made the call at an NSPCC conference in Belfast because of fears that they will not be able to continue to pay for such services themselves in the near future.

Roads Service Ready For Winter Weather
Infrastructure Minister John O'Dowd has confirmed that the Department's winter service team is prepared to tackle the current cold snap. Around 300 staff and 130 gritters are ready to salt main roads, while 12 snow blowers are available for deployment if necessary. To ensure a comprehensive winter service, the Department has allocated £3.

One in three people are struggling to pay their mortgages in Northern Ireland. According to a study commissioned by the Consumer Credit Counselling Service a third of households who took out mortgages between 2005 and 2010 are now finding it difficult to make repayments.
