Avoid cost cutting on training warns CIPD
Cutting expenditure on course-based training and relying on e-learning to fill the gap would be an understandable, but a wholly inappropriate reaction in the business current climate.
This was the view expressed by Martyn Sloman, Adviser at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), at the CIPD’s recent annual conference.
While expressing his belief that e-learning had enormous potential as a major business driver, Mr Sloman said that successful organisations were increasingly using e-learning to support mission-critical activities.
Also speaking at the conference was management guru and author of the best-selling book, ‘Maverick’, Ricardo Semler.
The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development has over 110,000 members and is the leading professional body for those involved in the management and development of people.
The CIPD’s Annual Conference and Exhibition ‘People Mean Business’ took place at the Harrogate International Centre in the north of England between October 23-25. (MB)
