Special effects at the 14th Foyle Film Festival
Seagate Technologies have teamed up with the 14th Budweiser Foyle Film Festival this year to bring the excellent special effects programme to Derry.
Seagate are the entertainment industry's leading supplier of disc drives and almost every major film made today uses their digital storage technology to create the amazing special effects we now take for granted.
If you've ever watched an incredible explosion or war-disaster scene in a movie and wondered 'How do they do that?' you’ll not want to miss the workshop with Special Effects Producer, Paul Franklin and Toby Haggith, Film Curator of the Imperial War Museum. This workshop will let participants see how the lasting visual images created by special effects are made and will look at how accurately war has been portrayed by film, with reference to 'Enemy at The Gates', [which Franklin produced the effects for] and other notable war movies such as 'Pearl Harbour'.
With workshops priced at a nominal charge of just £2 the festival offers an incredible opportunity to find out a little bit more about everyone's favourite industry. (GB)
