Fifty Applicants For Each Argos Job
Retailer Argos has revealed it has received a total of 1,500 applications for just 30 positions at its yet to be opened store in Clonmel.
The store, the 40th Argos outlet in the Irish Republic, is set to open on March 5.
"We are excited to announce the opening of our 40th store, and after 15 years in Ireland, hope that we can continue to thrive and evolve," said spokesperson Rachel Dealy.
"By creating over 25 new jobs for the Tipperary area we are committed to offering the local community value and choice, with convenience for shoppers remaining essential."

Argos Workers Vote For Strike Action
Staff at four distribution centres run by catalogue retailer Argos have voted for strike action after rejecting a 4% pay offer. The dates for a series of 24-hour strikes and then a four-day stoppage will be announced next week.

Fianna Fáil Waterford Cllr Gary Wyse has expressed his disappointment at confirmation that the B&Q store in Waterford will remain closed with the loss of 47 jobs. This is despite the fact that four other B&Q stores that were also under threat were saved today.

Fine Gael Clare Senator and Seanad Spokesperson on Disability, Martin Conway, has said that National Job Shadow Day 2013 will help to eliminate barriers to employment for people with disabilities by promoting inclusion. Senator Conway is taking part in the initiative by welcoming a job seeker to Leinster House, who will shadow him for the day.
