Kilkeel Aerospace Firm Gets New Boss
There's a new high-flyer in Co Down with Neil Cairns just appointed to the post of Vice President and Managing Director of B/E Aerospace, Kilkeel.
B/E Aerospace is the world's leading manufacturer of aircraft cabin interior products for the commercial and business jet aircraft markets and the leading global distributor of aerospace fasteners.
The company has leading worldwide market shares in all of its major product lines and serves virtually all of the world's airlines, aircraft manufacturers and leasing companies through its direct global sales and customer support organizations.
The Kilkeel plant, which currently employs 550 people, is the only B/E Aerospace production base which manufactures its complete range of aircraft seats.
Mr Cairns, originally from Durham, has been Quality Director at the Co Down plant since 2008, before which he worked as the General Manager and Vice President of Quality In The Americas for a leading international supplier of speciality plastic and fibre products, based in Mexico.
He succeeds Sean Cromie has recently taken up the post of Vice President and General Manager of B/E Aerospace's Commercial Aircraft Segment in the US.

Staff at an aircraft maintenance firm in Shannon are speculating over the future of their jobs after being called to a meeting with management tomorrow to discuss plans to reorganise the company. Shannon Aerospace is one of the largest employers in the midwest with more than 700 staff, including trainees.

High Flyers Win Major Cash Boost
A Co Down firm that develops revolutionary aircraft seating designs for major airlines has really taken-off today with news of a £5.2m fillip. Stormont Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster today announced that the move, at Thompson Aero Seating in Kilkeel, will create 49 highly skilled jobs.
