Comic Relief Stars Head To Portrush

The band currently hoping to get their Comic Relief single to the number one spot are to make their first ever Northern Irish appearance in Portrush in June.

New boy band The Wanted have announced an appearance at the Live at the Beach event, which takes place on the East Strand, Portrush on Saturday 25 June.

The band entered the official UK charts at Number three with the single ‘Gold Forever’, the proceeds of which are going to support last Friday's Comic Relief campaign. It is hoped the single will raise £100M this year for a variety of international and domestic charitable causes.

The band performed Gold Forever live on BBC 1 during Friday night’s Comic Relief special, which raised £74.4M on Friday night. However, with thousands of fundraisers still to hand over their money, it is hoped the final total will top £100M.

Northern Ireland chart fans will get to witness The Wanted performing live when the band takes to the stage for their first ever show in the country, while girl band The Saturdays, 2008 X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke and upcoming urban songwriter and producer Fugative, also top the bill.

The event will also see performances from the 2009 X-Factor contestant Lloyd Daniels and
Norwegian band John Snow. Cool FM presenters Pete Snodden and Paul Kennedy will help host the show.

Tickets for Live at the Beach went on sale on Saturday morning via www.ticketmaster.ie, www.plmpromotions.com/shop with standard tickets costing £36.95, while a limited number of family tickets (for up to four people) are available for £133.
