Workspace Development Offers Jobs Boost
Up to 30 jobs are to set to be created after the NI Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster officially opened the Rathfriland Enterprise Centre in Co Down.
The project has been part financed by the European Union through the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation (PEACE II), managed for the Special EU Programmes Body by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment.
The new, purpose-built enterprise centre, at Downpatrick Street, Rathfriland, is one of over 40 PEACE II funded workspace development projects across Northern Ireland which provide flexible workspace for new and expanding businesses in the manufacturing and tradable services sectors.
Speaking at the opening, the DUP Minister Arlene Foster said: "Manufacturing and tradable services must be encouraged as key growth sectors to ensure sustainable economic development for the future.
"Rathfriland Enterprise Centre provides facilities that can support the expansion of businesses in the manufacturing and tradable services sectors, and thus contribute to the long-term prosperity of the local area."
The Minister added: "There are excellent workspace facilities available at Rathfriland Enterprise Centre, and I hope more local businesses will be encouraged to explore the new opportunities provided by this new development."
Councillor Jim McElroy, Chairman of Banbridge District Council, said: "Banbridge District Council is delighted to be one of the funders of Rathfriland Enterprise Centre. We welcome the construction of this facility which will provide local business people with modern business space.
"This investment in Rathfriland achieves an important element of our Economic Development Strategy for the District and reinforces our commitment to building a stronger, more balanced economy where local businesses can grow and local people can prosper."
The workspace was developed by Banbridge District Enterprise. Chairman of Banbridge District Enterprise has grown as a company providing much needed advice and practical support to entrepreneurs throughout the district. Rathfriland Enterprise Centre represents the next stage in our development and also represents a major financial investment for Banbridge District Enterprises. We look forward to seeing Rathfriland Enterprise Centre flourish over the coming years."
