Belsonic Announces 2011 Line-Up
Belfast's biggest outdoor festival, Belsonic, has announced this year's line-up.
The four-day event will see Elbow, The Specials, Dizzy Rascal and Primal Scream (Screamadelica) lead the celebrations in Custom House Square, deep in the capital, this August.
The event will build on the success of the 2010 shows, which saw Kasabian, Stereophonics and Paulo Nutini entertain the Belfast crowd.
According to the event's organisers, Belsonic is one of the largest Northern Irish outdoor music events in history, with some 40,000 people attending.
Speaking at the launch, Esther Small, manager with event sponsors Absolut vodka, said: "We have no doubt that 2011 will be another overwhelming success."
The line-up was revealed in Belfast's Stiff Kitten on Thursday, where supporting acts Plan B, Katy B and London grime MC Wretch 32, who will be supporting Dizzee Rascal, were also announced.
The secure of Glaswegian rock band Primal Scream, will be seen as a major coup for the orgaisers.
The band, who were a key part of the mid-80s UK indie pop scene, broke into the mainstream with their 1991 opus Screamadelica. They went on to sell ten million albums worldwide and return to Belfast on August 19th to perform the Screamadelica in its entirety, celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the groundbreaking release.

Tickets for Primal Scream: Screamadelica, Elbow & The Specials go on sale on Friday April 8th at 9am from www.belsonic.com. Tickets for Primal Scream : Screamadelica are priced from £29 including booking fee. Tickets for Elbow & The Specials are priced from £33 including booking fee.

£1m Drug Haul Seized At Larne Harbour
Suspected Class A drugs worth an estimated £1 million has been seized at Larne Habour. Shortly before 6am on Friday, 18th August police and Border Force colleagues carried out a vehicle stop-and-search operation, during which they discovered a large quantity of suspected Class A drugs .

Police Continue To Investigate Laptop And Notebook Loss
Police are continuing to investigate the loss of an officer's laptop and notebook. It is believed the material fell from a moving vehicle on the foreshore stretch of the M2 motorway, on Thursday 17th August around 4.15pm. The laptop was immediately deactivated and has since been recovered. No personnel files were involved.

Dee Stitt Resigns As CEO Of Charter NI
David 'Dee' Stitt has announced he is to stand down as CEO of Charter NI. Mr Stitt has faced ongoing calls for his resignation from the community charity over his links to loyalist paramilitaries. In a statement Charter NI said: "David has asked that we accept his resignation of CEO duties within Charter NI (tendered on Tues. 28th Aug).
