Laura Marling Headlines Open House Festival

The organisers of the Open House Festival have announced that Laura Marling, Brits and NME award-winning English folk artist, is to headline the Custom House Square gig on Friday 24th June.

With this year's Belfast-based festival now taking place much early in the year than usual - 22nd to 26th June – the show is expected to be a balmy spectacle, featuring special guests, The Avett Brothers.

The North Carolina three-piece describe themselves as a rootsy amalgam of country, bluegrass, rock, pop and punk. And we couldn't put it better ourselves. Their rapidly growing following stems from their rowdy infectious shows, culminating in their recent performance at this year's Grammy's, where they were joined onstage by Bob Dylan and Mumford & Sons for a standout rendition of 'Maggie's Farm'.

Legendary traditional Irish folk duo, Mike McGoldrick and Dezi Donnelly, will also perform on the night along with talented and hotly tipped songstress, Louise Hull.

On Saturday 25th June, as previously announced, the highly anticipated Fleet Foxes will make their debut Belfast performance, and it has been confirmed that Villagers and The Low Anthem, will be the very special guests on that evening.

Speaking about the Villagers announcement, a spokesman for the festival said: "We're more than a little thrilled to be welcoming back one of the most exciting Irish bands in recent years.

"We're obviously making the very most of sunny season by erecting an outdoor stage for the performances, so you can kick back in your sunnies and flip flops and watch the sun go down."

Other acts confirmed for the Coors Light 13th Open House Festival include, Caitlin Rose, a young Nashvillian whose edgy lyrics are leaving her contemporaries in the shade, Marcus Foster, a new and formidable talent on the Communion label, Irish duo The Lost Brothers, who have recently finished recording with Raconteur, Brendan Benson, and West London outfit, Treetop Flyers. Plus many more to be announced.

The Open House Festival takes place from 22nd to 26th June around Belfast's Cathedral Quarter with events in Custom House Square.
