Richhill Regeneration Gets The Go-Ahead
A £1.5 million regeneration scheme aimed at transforming the village of Richhill has been give the green light.
Funding for the Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) is being made available from a number of sources including Armagh Council, the Planning Service and a contribution of some £765,000 is also being made from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). As a result of Stage Two approval being obtained, around 20 properties within the conservation area will be able to apply for a grant to restore their buildings.
Conservation architect, Keith Gilmour has been appointed as a new project manager to administer the regeneration scheme.
According to the website www.unearthore.com the two-stage submission to the HLF was prepared by Richhill Building Preservation Trust (RBPT), a local community group whose aim is to secure the fabric of the village's historic buildings and enhance the range of local services and visitors facilities.
