Peace and Reconciliation roadshow on tour
The Intermediary Funding Bodies (IFBs) involved in the forthcoming EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation in Northern Ireland and the Border Region of Ireland (Peace II) are launching a series of 19 roadshows.
Co-ordinated by the special EU Programmes Body, the roadshows will take place in locations throughout Northern Ireland and the border counties of the Republic of Ireland. The tour, which is primarily aimed at informing the public about Peace II, will kick off on Monday October 15 and run until the October 30.
Chief Executive of the Special EU Programmes Body, John McKinney said that he hoped many would attend the Peace II roadshow information events. He said: ”We are holding the roadshows in order to give everyone a chance to find out what the Peace Programme can do for them. All the Intermediary Funding Bodies handling Peace II applications will have a stand at each roadshow and representatives will be on hand to explain the objectives of Peace II and how projects can apply for support under the programme.”
The EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation in Northern Ireland and the Border Region of Ireland (Peace II) is a Programme financed by the European Union’s Structural Funds.
It aims to help Northern Ireland progress towards a peaceful and stable society and to promote reconciliation in the province.
It also seeks to address the legacy of the violence of the past 30 years and take advantage of the opportunities arising from the peace process. (MB)
