Training for Women Network launches Annual Report
The Training for Women Network has launched its Annual Report at the Europa Hotel in Belfast.
Over 70 members and invited guests listened to the Chairperson Pauline Murphy deliver the organisations goals for the coming year and views on how PEACE II funding is likely to impact upon the Women’s Sector in Northern Ireland.
Professor Pauline Murphy opened the meeting with a review of the previous year’s activities, she said: “Since our last AGM, the Training for Women Network has continued to make progress in our work to empower women to be active agents in the design of their own lives and to enable women to increase their contribution to social and economic regeneration in Northern Ireland, thereby taking us further in our quest for peace.”
Looking to the future Professor Murphy said that human resource development as a strategy to achieve social and economic regeneration in Northern Ireland was a major challenge. She indicated that this would succeed if there is a more creative approach to training which includes values of inclusivity and a realisation of human potential.
She also stated that there was a requirement to address the needs of a knowledge based growth economy.
The Professor added that co-ordinated delivery, with Government, the business community, training and education institutions and civil society working together combined with sufficient resources were also required to mainstream best practice from P&R and other EU funded programmes. (MB)
