Consilium brings Task under its wing
Antrim-based software and IT company Task has been consolidated under the Consilium Technologies brand name.
The move, announced on Tuesday October 2, is part of a strategy aimed at reinforcing the company’s position within a rapidly developing e-government sector.
Consilium is focusing on the run-up to the 2005 deadline set by the Government for authorities in the UK to deliver all their services to citizens online.
Under the rebranding, the company will operate three separate divisions. Task Software - which has a 15-year track record of providing IT solutions to the UK local government market; BestValueCommunity.com, a leading Internet portal website launched in June 2000 and now used by 95 per cent of all UK councils; and Consilium onTAP, set up in April this year to provide an ASP platform for delivering and managing a range of software applications.
Consilium Chief Executive Colin Reid said the move placed the company in a strong position in the run-up to the 2005 deadline set by government for authorities across the UK to deliver all of their services to citizens online.
“UK local government is currently a very exciting market from a technology viewpoint. As councils embrace electronic service delivery and seek to leverage technology to improve their interaction with citizens, they are looking to work closely with suppliers like Consilium. This presents us with real growth potential.”
Mr Reid added: “Consilium – the Latin word for ‘council’ - was chosen to reinforce the group’s focus on this dynamic marketplace. We’re confident that the framework of solutions we offer provides the ‘lid’ of the eGovernment jigsaw box and all of the key pieces councils across the UK need to complete the puzzle.” (AMcE)
