Titanic Play Resurfaces
One of the most poignant plays written about the Titanic is to be floated again this weekend as Stewart Parker's 1975 radio drama, The Iceberg, is revived.
The story centres on the uniquely Irish story of the men behind the ship, with those who helped design and build her and those who took the now infamous maiden voyage on the world’s most infamous ship.
According to the organisers, Parker's play unfolds in unexpected ways with wry humor unexpectedly poignant moments.
It will open as part of Belfast's City Council's 'Titanic 100' festival, marking the centenary of the ship's launch. The Southbank Players have revived the play for two very special performances.
'The Iceberg' will be performed on board The Barge at Lanyon Place this coming Friday and Saturday (20 and 21 May).
Curtain up is 7.30pm on both evenings.
Some tickets remain for both performances and these can be obtained from the Belfast Welcome Centre in Donegall Place (tel: 028 9024 6609), or by visiting www.gotobelfast.com.
