UUP in discussions with Fianna Fail
Ulster Unionists have travelled to Dublin for discussions with Fianna Fail in an attempt to win support for their current policies.
The UUP delegation consisted of MLA Michael McGimpsey, MLA Dermot Nesbitt, MP Lady Sylvia Hermon and MLA Fred Cobain.
McGimpsey said that the delegates went to take stock of Fianna Fail’s views and to discuss how to achieve a political process in Northern Ireland that will give the Ulster Unionists stability.
The delegates met with politicians from Fine Gael and Labour parties later in the afternoon.
Prior to the Dublin meeting Fred Cobain said: “The events of 11th September have transformed the political landscape across the world. It is morally indefensible for any organisation to continue to hold onto large amounts of arms and explosives for the purposes of terrorism.
“All democratic political parties must stand together on this issue. We cannot allow representatives of terrorists to continue to defy the will of people.” (CD)

Belfast Woman Wins £35k In Sexual Harassment Case
A woman has reached a settlement of £35,000 over a sexual harassment case against her employer Telefonica UK, which runs an O2 shop in Belfast. Natasha McCullough's case was supported by the Northern Ireland Equality Commission.

Former Sinn Fein MLA Dies
Former Sinn Fein member and paramilitary activist John Kelly has died. Mr Kelly, who was a provisional IRA activist, spent 15 years behind bars in both Northern and Southern Ireland. He was a co-defendant in the alleged arms smuggling trial that collapsed with Charles Haughey, who later became Taoiseach.

FF Won't Back Presidential Candidates
Fianna Fail (FF) has decided that they will not back independent candidates in the Irish Republic's Presidential election. It follows a row in Fianna Fáil over the party's presidential election strategy. Party Leader Micheal Martin put forward the motion, which was seconded by his Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív.
