Police attacked while rescuing man in Derry
Police and paramedics in Derry have come under attack from a crowd of around 200 people as they tried to rescue a man.
Two police officers were injured during the disturbance early on Wednesday 19 September 2001.
The incident began as officers attempted to rescue an injured man who had fallen from a roof into an enclosed yard in the Strand Road area. They were then attacked by the crowd, which threw bottles, coins, beer cans, glasses, stones, bricks and other missiles.
Extra police were drafted in and maintained a line between the crowd and the injured man.
Ambulance personnel also came under attack during the incident, which lasted around an hour.
Four people have been arrested for public order offences. (AMcE)

Police Cancel Appeal For Missing Omagh Man
Police have said they believe missing Omagh man, Shane Sharkey, has been found in the Republic of Ireland. A police appeal for help in finding the 35-year-old has been cancelled, with police saying they now believe they know where he is. No further details have been released but police thanked the public for their help.

Man Arrested In Connection With Dromara Assault
A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a report of an assault at licenced premises at the Rathfriland Road area of Dromara. Detective Inspector Bell said: "Shortly before 10:10pm on Friday 15th December, it was reported that an altercation occurred at a bar in the area following three men refused entry to the premises.

Man Released On Bail Over Lurgan Murder
A man arrested in connection with a murder in Lurgan on Sunday, 06 August, has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The body of a man, aged 45, was discovered at a flat on Victoria Street. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
