General Fiasco Set For 'One Cool Weekend'
Cool FM have announced on Tuesday that Northern Ireland's indie-rock band, General Fiasco, will perform at One Cool Weekend.
They will play on day one of the weekend music concert, taking place over Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 August in Newcastle, Co. Down, as part of Down District Council's Festival of Flight.
The young band, (pictured) who broke into the UK charts with their song Ever So Shy, will be among top chart and local acts scheduled to perform at the Playing Fields, Castlewellan Road. The event will also feature an air display from the Red Arrows and a full programme of family entertainment.
Other top chart acts performing across the two days include hip-hop star Chipmunk, indie-rockers Hard-Fi, pop five-piece The Feeling, hip-hop/grime artist Wretch 32, English singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran, Irish girl-band Wonderland, and electro-pop starlet Frankmusik.
A fully licensed bar is available within the concert site on both days for persons 18 years and over (ID required). A festival village with food vendors, stalls and more is also available.
Last year the Festival of Flight attracted 140,000 people to the County Down town.
Tickets for the event are available from only £19.99 via www.ticketmaster.ie and www.coolfm.co.uk. Persons under 16 years old must be accompanied by someone aged 18 or over.

Education Minister, Paul Givan, has announced the opening of online applications for the Targeted Early Years Pathway Fund for the 2025/26 and 2026/27 academic years. The Pathway Fund, introduced in 2016, aims to provide early years education services for children aged 0-4 who may be at risk of falling behind in their education.

Northern Ireland's first music festival since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic is set to kick off later today. The Stendahl Festival, based in Limavady, Co L'Derry, will see 2,500 music lovers enjoy performances from the likes of Irish folk band Beoga, popstar Lyra and over 60 other musicians, comedians and family performers.
