Monaghan Car Crash Man Charged
Gardai investigating a fatal road traffic collision involving a cyclist and a vehicle on Tuesday have arrested a 37-year-old man in Carrickmacross.
The accident occurred around 10.15pm on the N2 Carrickmacross to Castleblaney Road. A 23-year-old male cyclist was fatally injured when he was struck by a vehicle that failed to stop. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 37-year-old man was detained and later charged in connection with the incident. He will appear before a sitting of Dundalk District Court later today.
The victim was one of two cyclists who died this week, with the other tragedy taking place in eat Belfast.

A serious road crash has occurred on the Chapel Road in L'Derry. A car and a motorbike where involved in the incident, according to the police. One man, believed to be a teenager, has been taken to hospital where his injuries are believed to be serious. The road has been closed at its junctions with Newlyn Terrace and Spencer Road.
