Paterson Sports GAA Shirt
Gaelic sport has been taken to the highest political level with news that the NI Secretary of State Owen Paterson met with representatives of the Ulster GAA to discuss the work undertaken by the organisation in communities across Northern Ireland.
Speaking after the meeting Owen Paterson said: "The GAA's significant and important role in communities across Northern Ireland represents the 'Big Society' in action."
He added: "I watched the All Ireland Final at Croke Park last year which was a tremendous occasion.
"Throughout the year the Ulster GAA's commitment to investing in communities and developing participation at the grass roots has been helping to make a real difference, particularly in helping young people to address the very difficult issues they face today.
"This work is an integral part of the realisation of a genuine shared future in Northern Ireland," he added.
