Quiet Area Of East Belfast Hit By Shooting
Police have issued an appeal for information after receiving a report that shots were fired in east Belfast on Wednesday night.
The East Belfast Alliance MP Naomi Long has since expressed her shock at the news that shots were fired in the Park Avenue area.
Naomi Long MP (pictured) said: "It is deeply disturbing that there has been a report that shots were fired in the Park Avenue area," adding: "This is a very quiet residential area and whilst details are unclear.
"People will be extremely shocked to hear about this."
She continued: "Anyone who can help police with their investigation into this should contact them immediately," she said.
The PSNI said that, shortly after 10.30pm, it was reported that a man approached another man who was sitting in a car in the Park Avenue area and pointed a handgun at him.
Two shots were fired, but no one was injured and no damage was caused to the vehicle.
The man made off on foot in the direction of Larkfield Manor.

Man Injured After Shots Fired At House In Co Antrim
A man has been injured after shots were fired through the window of a property in Co Antrim. The incident happened at a house in the Moneyleck Park area in Rasharkin at around 10.20pm on Monday, 30 January. The man was treated for minor injuries and has been discharged from hospital. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Investigation Launched After Shots Fired At Car In L'Derry
Police have launched an investigation after shots were fired at a car in Co L'Derry. The attack happened in the Marianus Park area just after 10.20pm on Sunday, 25 March. A number of bullet holes were discovered in the bonnet of the vehicle which was unoccupied and parked in the area. No-one was injured in the attack.

Shots Fired In Residential Area Of North Belfast
An investigation has been launched following a shooting incident in a residential area of North Belfast. According to a report by Belfast Live, at about 9pm four shots were fired in the Tyndale area of Ballysillan. It is understood that a number of children were playing nearby at the time. There have been no reports of any injuries.

Gun shots fired at flats in Coleraine
Police are appealing for information after a number of shots were fired at flats in Co Londonderry on Monday. The incident occurred at two flats in Harpur's Hill, Coleraine at around 9pm. No one was injured in the attack which saw shots fired at an upstairs and downstairs flat.
